The Last Day of August Now Available on iTunes

Now available on VOD and streaming, The Last Day of August expertly tells the story of how one day can change everything. Friendships are truly tested and love reveals itself in this independent drama about breaking down and breaking through, co-produced by Sunnyside Films & Arcelus Entertainment.

In “Friends Come Together for an Intervention: ‘The Last Day of August,’ Starring Michael Izquierdo,” The New York Times’ Anita Gates wrote, “The screenplay — by [Craig] DiFolco and Sara Rempe — is intriguing, with expertly handled exposition.” Adding, “The film benefits from nice performances and nice work by Mr. DiFolco (making his directorial debut)…” ahead of a sold out opening weekend at Quad Cinemas in New York City in October 2013.

Dan (Izquierdo) was paralyzed just over a year ago. Following months of recovery and overwhelmed by life’s new realities, he retreated to a family cabin in upstate New York. On the last day of August, his closest friends (Sebastian Arcelus, Bill English) and former fiancé (Vanessa Ray) arrive unannounced to confront him about his recent reclusive and self-destructive behavior – and find him with his new girlfriend Shannon (Heather Lind). Wanting to support him, yet skeptical of his psychological health, they attempt the tight-rope walk of loving confrontation in the hopes of convincing Dan to return home.

The Last Day of August has taken home ‘Best Feature’ at New Jersey Film Festival as well as ‘Best Feature’ at several acting awards at BAFF, San Francisco. The film has also shown at Independent Film Festival of Boston, Gotham Screen Film Festival, New Hampshire Film Festival, Big Apple Film Festival, and Connecticut Film Festival.
